Anxious looks as they hand in bags of 20 pennies from home.
Worried expressions as I explain they’ll be “buying” the decorations for their bags.
Excited faces as I describe the selection of materials.
Giddy voices as they preview the merchandise.
High-pitched shrieks as their customer numbers are called to begin their shopping spree.
Nervous eyes as they calculate their expenses.
Surprised smiles as they realize they have 3 pennies left to spend.
Joyful giggles as they begin to decorate.
Proud strides as they place their Valentine masterpieces on the drying rack.
Oh, the joys of Valentine’s Day anticipation in Kindergarten!

Many thanks to the crew at Two Writing Teachers, and the extended SOL community, for giving us the time, space, and encouragement to live the writerly life each Tuesday. Won’t you join us?
What a neat way to decorate. I can just imagine the fun all had.

PS: Your header picture…is that Arrow Head Provincial Park in Hunstville, Ontario?? It looks exactly like a beach there.

It’s actually Thoreau’s Walden Pond, just up the road from where I live. 🙂
