Writing Inspiration from Trending Twitter#s #SOLC18

Sometimes writing ideas are staring right at you. Like when you log onto Twitter and you scan the “Trends for you” sidebar.

I’ve started a collection of trending Twitter hashtags. Here are some that have caught my eye recently. I especially like the ones that aren’t limited to 3, 4, or 5 words, but I collect them, too. You never know.

#TreadmillTuesday struck a nerve with me this week. I’ve been struggling to get to the gym to exercise as much as I should. Working out regularly happens for me in fits and starts. I get on an exercise wave and ride it for a while, and then I crash. The crashes are usually caused by bad weather, a bad day, or other life commitments that get in the way and keep me away from the gym for several days in a row. And then all of a sudden I’m off the board and can’t get back on.

Tuesday was a really bad day. The first in a while, and I even Sliced about it here. So I pushed myself and went to the gym after school. I even changed into my workout clothes before my weekly team meeting, because that helps me get there. It shows commitment. I have energy at 2:30, but not at 4:00 when the meeting ends. And I can’t go home to change, because then I’m definitely no going back out again.

So I went and I felt so much better. I can’t say I stayed as long as I should have, but I went and it helped. That was my Treadmill Tuesday. And by the way, I’m going back today. Promise!

  1. Good for you! It is hard to honor commitments sometimes- even the ones we make to ourselves. I’m glad you were able to give yourself the gift!

  2. i’m the exact same. sometimes it’s hard to remind yourself how good it feels, sometimes but not always physically, afterward. just knowing you pushed yourself and did it helps me sleep better because i tend to beat myself up when i don’t. that’s the motivation that gets me there even more than achieving the desired physical results. but sometimes it’s just too hard to think that far ahead, past the bad day, past the couch at home. one (treadmill tues)day at a time. i wish you luck. good post!

    Thanks for sharing these fun tweeter trends. I need to check couple of them out.

    Like you, I also exercise & then stop. If I miss a day, then the day turns into week then month. My goal is to start exercising three days a week. Our local Y has flat rate classes – you buy a monthly pass and go to any number of the classes offered with that pass. I find buying a monthly pass works for me as I can always find a friend or two to keep me accounted for going (till I miss a day…)

  4. Oh my, do I ever relate to your on-and-off relationship with exercise! It’s such a struggle, isn’t it? Winter is the toughest, with being in a climate where outdoor exercise is off the table until April. Way to go, getting yourself to the gym this week!
