Aging parents. Many sleepless nights ahead.
Curious about the origin of the six-word memoir? Here’s the backstory.
Thanks for wondering and wandering a bit with me today. And many thanks to the crew at Two Writing Teachers, and the extended SOL community, for giving us the time, space, and encouragement to live the writerly life here every Tuesday throughout the year and daily during the month of March.

The teaser you left at Two Writing Teachers pulled me in, and I think this 6 word memoir really nails it. The word “ahead” really gets to me–I think one of the things that feels so hard with aging parents is the anticipation of all the hardness to come.

Very true. Challenging both in the moment and the road ahead.

Oh yes. I get it. IF and only if you are a caring and appreciative child of aging parents.

We know sleepless nights as parents, but sleepless nights as children doesn’t have the same ‘ahead’. A feeling captured well.

I get this. It is so hard to see your parents age and transition from being the caregiver to being the one who needs to be taken care of. It’s hard for them, too.
