Nerves
Getting the better of me
Faces
Smiling at me
The unknown
Terrifying me
Almost normal
Tempting me
Tomorrow masks become optional
Thanks for wondering and wandering a bit with me today. And many thanks to the crew at Two Writing Teachers, and the extended SOL community, for giving us the time, space, and encouragement to live the writerly life here every Tuesday throughout the year and daily during the month of March.
One day at a time. I love your use of line breaks here to create emotion. And the line, “Almost normal…tempting me.” So relatable!

I have been enjoying them from behind my mask, indeed!

I hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you! I have discovered so many little missed joys I forgot about since most of us stopped wearing masks a week ago. The little murmurings with colleagues in the hall that were impossible behind masks, the overall lowering of voices, a general feeling of okayness. Good luck!!

It has gone well. The funny thing is that all the faces the kids used to make at us are no longer hidden, and they forget that! LOL!

This captures that strange, surreal sense that being without masks is now ‘normal’. Thanks for sharing!

It’s an odd shift, right?

Whew! Yes. Today was my first day at work with all the protocols gone. I was still masked, but so many people around me weren’t, and that felt … so weird and unsafe. Wishing us all luck as we navigate ths new phase. ❤

Agreed. It feels odd. I would say our faculty and staff is about 40% wearing and 60% off. I’m getting used to it, but it isn’t easy.
