Filling up the well #SOL22

During an afternoon PD session yesterday, the presenter — part life coach/part stand-up comedienne (or at least she should be) — encouraged us to think about how we fill up our personal well at the end of every day, every week, every however-often-it-needs-to-be-refilled. Teaching is hard work. Teaching during a global pandemic is even harder work.

On the way home, my husband, who also works in my district and heard the presentation, and I stopped to fill up our respective wells. We were out early, it was pushing 60 degrees, and we were both running on almost empty. A walk in a bucolic setting does it for us.

How do you fill up your well when it is almost empty? I’d love to know!

Thanks for wondering and wandering a bit with me today. And many thanks to the crew at Two Writing Teachers, and the extended SOL community, for giving us the time, space, and encouragement to live the writerly life here every Tuesday throughout the year and daily during the month of March.

  1. You are so right…we all need to fill our wells. Love your photos! For me, it depends on my mood. I either need to spend time alone, reading or resting, or spend time with friends, catching up over tea or dinner.

  2. I fill my well with walks with my dog Charlie and also time with friends. We have an outing planned tonight and I’m excited to finally be getting out.
