This is it! It’s the last day of National Poetry Month. My #NaPoWriMo Poem-A-Day project has been Playing With Poetry. I tagged along with Margaret Simon, Jone MacCulloch, Molly Hogan, and Mary Lee Hahn. We played with Haikubes, Magnetic Poetry (magnets and online), Metaphor Dice, and Paint Chip Poetry. I even threw in nail polish color names as inspiration, just for fun!
A peek into my poem and process:
- It’s been a long 61 straight days of writing and sharing. Sharing is the big piece. I write daily all year long, but for me. Not for anyone else.
- My journal and notebook are brimming with ideas for future Slices on Tuesdays and Poetry Fridays. See you soon!
- Thanks for reading and commenting for the last two months and beyond!

And now for the final line of the …
On April 1, the Poetry Friday family launched the 7th annual Kidlitosphere Progressive Poem organized by author/poet, Irene Latham. (Click here to learn more.) Many of us have signed up to provide a line for the 2019 poem. Author/poet Matt Forrest Esenwine kicked things off with some familiar “found” phrases merged to get us going. Today’s final line comes from Donna at Mainely Write. You may find her line here on her blog and brilliant Donna set the whole poem to music, recorded it, and strums along on her ukelele. Amazing! Participants are having fun using song lyrics. I was excited to provide the 14th line on April 14th. You can read it here. Thanks for joining us on our sweet poem’s journey.
